About the Job

This actor plays two connected roles within the show: the Bartender / Host, who guides the audience through the evening, and the Sunset Strip Nightclub Owner, who tells the Lana Turner / Johnny Stompanato story. As the Bartender / Host, this character is the master of ceremonies — polished, charming, mysterious, and in full control of the room. They welcome the audience into the hidden world of Hollywood crime, introduce each cocktail, transition between stories, and create the feeling that guests have stepped into a private after-hours confession. As the Sunset Strip Nightclub Owner, the actor shifts into a more dangerous, streetwise presence. This version of the character has seen movie stars, gangsters, producers, and gossip columnists all pass through their club. They tell the story of Lana Turner, Johnny Stompanato, Mickey Cohen, and the scandal that turned a Beverly Hills mansion into one of Hollywood’s most sensational crime scenes. This role requires strong charisma, audience connection, timing, and the ability to move smoothly between host duties and dramatic storytelling. The actor should be comfortable interacting with guests, introducing drinks, holding the room, and creating a noir atmosphere that feels seductive, controlled, and just a little dangerous. Tone: Charming, polished, mysterious, confident, dangerous underneath. Performance Style: Direct address, immersive hosting, noir storytelling, light audience interaction. Roles Played: Bartender / Host and Sunset Strip Nightclub Owner. Approximate stage time: Featured throughout the show, including opening, transitions, one 15-minute monologue, and closing. Actor type: Must be comfortable performing in close proximity to guests and carrying the room as host.
